We got up a little before 7:00 and were underway at 7:15 this morning. Doesn’t take us long. Once we got going, Lulu made coffee and breakfast. It was a windless 38 nautical mile motorboat ride from Puerto Escondido to Caleta San Juanico. Saw a bunch of dolphins along the way as well as numerous flying fish. There was also a frigate bird who thought the top of our mast looked like a good perch until he got close. Then he changed his mind and we’re glad he did.
We had our anchor down at 3:10 this afternoon and used about 4 gallons of fuel. We made about 30 gallons of water along the way as well.
Haven’t checked for wifi here yet but I’d be really surprised if there was any.
We’ve resigned ourselves to the fact that, due to our concert in Puerto Penasco, the trip north will be primarily about miles made good and there will be precious little time for exploration. Guess that gives us another good reason to spend at least another several summers in the Sea of Cortez. We’ll use this trip to scout out anchorages and such but won’t have much time for going ashore along the way. Bummer.
Once I upload this and download my weather info, I’ll have an idea whether we’ll be getting underway early again tomorrow or whether we’ll be sitting out a norther right here for a couple of days. So, time to get this “in the mail” and check out my weather feeds.
