7/13/2012 – Chillin’ in Peñasco

Not much going on. Just thought I’d let you know we are currently enroute (sort of) to the US for about a 6 week stay. We took the Albatros bus from San Carlos on Tuesday at noon. Nine hours later we were in Puerto Peñasco where our friends Mark & Barb picked us up and drove us out to our other friends’, Bill & Elli’s condo at Playa Encanto. These are both folks we met when we were in PP the first time. Can’t beat these PP folks for doing nice stuff. We’re spend ing a few days here at the condo by the beach with Bill & Elli. Monday, we’ll all drive up to Phoenix and they’ll drop us off at the airport. Our flight to Portland, OR, is at 5:20 PM on Monday.

If you’ve been following the blog for awhile, you might remember from last years’ trip “home” that blog entries got a bit sparser during our time away from the boat. So, be prepared. They’ll also take on a different slant while we’re shore-bound. But I’ll try to post something, hopefully, a couple times a week just so you don’t lose interest and write us off as just another blog that quit getting updated.

About sryoder

Steve & Lulu... retired. Had enough of the cold wet dreary fall/winter/spring in the Pacific Northwest. Bought a boat, fixed it up, sold our home and sailed to Mexico in November, 2010. Been here ever since except for occasional forays to the States (summer only, thank you) to visit the kids, parents and siblings. If you're looking for a sailing blog, this is the wrong place. This is a traveling, hunkering in, eating blog. Sailing is just how we get from place to place when we can't walk.

Good to hear that you are working your way home to Oregon. Will look forward to seeing you. Love, Mom

  2. Enjoy your stay in the NW and visit with family. We have enjoyed your writing and adventures since we met at Casa Buena last November (early turkey dinner). We finally arrived La Paz May 23, 2012 and are still working on s/v Solana (KP 44) getting it ready to go in the water in October. Looking forward to seeing you both some time in late 2012 or 2013. Safe journey.

Good to hear from you, Al and especially good to hear you finally made it back down to La Paz. Bienvenidos. If you’re going to be in La Paz this winter at all, we’ll probably see you.

  3. Ned says:

Can’t imagine why you only visit here in the summer. Welcome “home” and hope you enjoy being a duck for a few weeks.

    Ned

Guess we’re just unapologetic fair-weather Oregonians. Good to hear from you Ned. We’ll have to try to get together sometime during our visit.

  4. Beverly says:

Hope you have you down here for a barbecue sometime while you are home. Enjoy your weekend in PP and hope the rest of the trip is uneventful.

Hope you can tolerate a land-based life for awhile! Have a great time and enjoy the cool weather.
