3/14/2013 – Heading out tomorrow

The wind and sea gods are smiling on us and so, we’ll be heading out of Santa Rosalía tomorrow morning for points south.  First stop tomorrow afternoon will be Punta Chivato.  This will just be an overnight stop and, as we’ve been there before and quite recently at that, we probably won’t even go ashore.  Next stop if the winds are right will be another overnight at Bahía Santo Domingo on the inside of Punta Concepción.  Then we’ll have a long-ish day heading down to Punta Pulpito where we’ll likely spend a couple of days before going on to Caleta San Juanico.

What this all boils down to is that we won’t have internet access for probably a couple of weeks at least.  Not until we get to Isla Coronados where we’re told one can pick up a cell signal from Loreto.  So, the next bunch of posts will be sans photos and sent via the SSB radio.

So, we’re all provisioned, water tank is full, batteries are full, laundry is done, we’re all showered and smelling sweet.  Tomorrow we resume life on the hook where the living is cheap.

So, while I can still post a photo, I guess I’d better.  So here you are, apropos of nothing in particular:

About sryoder

Steve & Lulu... retired. Had enough of the cold wet dreary fall/winter/spring in the Pacific Northwest. Bought a boat, fixed it up, sold our home and sailed to Mexico in November, 2010. Been here ever since except for occasional forays to the States (summer only, thank you) to visit the kids, parents and siblings. If you're looking for a sailing blog, this is the wrong place. This is a traveling, hunkering in, eating blog. Sailing is just how we get from place to place when we can't walk.

I work with your sis, Bev. I was so excited to hear about this great adventure you are on! I’d like my own adventure of this kind someday. I’m looking forward to living some of it through your blog for now and your photos! Viva Mexico!

    Steve & Lulu,

Do log your position if you can, from time to time. It is working, and it is fun to look you up on google maps, a sort of virtual cruising. Maybe one day their satellite will snap a photo with you in it, how cool would that be. You can see my boat parked by my house on goole, why not you guys.

We loved the Loreto area. Have you spent any time on the west side of Isla Carmen? Hugely great hiking from Bahia Bolandra in the north, Isla Danzante is sort of tame, but Honeymoon Cove also gives good anchorages and hiking ashore.
