So, here’s what happens if I don’t write often enough. Got this from my sister this afternoon:
Stephen, we haven’t heard from you lately. No blog since the 18th. Everything ok?
So, here’s a note to let y’all know that we’re still alive and kicking. However, there’s just nothing going on. Oh, we had our teeth cleaned the other day and I know that’s exciting but mostly only to Lulu and I. Our days consist of getting up, having a leisurely breakfast, deciding what to have for dinner (or where to eat), taking the shuttle to town to get the ingredients for dinner, coming back to the boat, going over to the pool for a couple hours to cool off, returning to the boat, making and then eating dinner, clean up, watch a couple shows (currently on season 2 of Glee), and then to bed. Rinse and repeat.
And frankly, this isn’t likely to change for quite awhile. In 2 weeks we’ll be headed up to Oregon for our annual vacation. Since we’re going to fly a local puddle jumper from here to Tijuana, take a taxi to the border, walk across and then take a train from San Diego to Salem, OR (screw TSA), there might be some blog-worthy stuff there. Once in Oregon we plan to, among other things, buy a little Toyota-based RV (Dolphin for example) to do some land exploring and for driving back down to Mexico. That trip should also be blog-worthy. Once back in La Paz, we’ll be moving from the cushy Marina Costa Baja to the much more down to earth Marina Del Palmar where I plan t tackle several relatively big jobs. We’ll probably return to the US in January when our second grandchild is scheduled to make his/her debut, then back to the boat, finish a few lingering projects, get reprovisioned and then head out and actually go cruising again.
But, until then I have 2 choices. Or. more accurately, I have one choice with two options. Either write about nothing or write about food. Personally, I’m leaning towards food. We’ve been cleaning out the cupboards which has led to some interesting (and delicious) dishes. We’re also trying to cope with the heat which has also led to some good stuff.
So, if you’re not interested in reading about what we’re eating, you might want to wait and check back sometime around late July although, since one of the things we love to do when we’re back in the US is try out new recipes on our kids, you may not even be safe then. However, if you love food and don’t mind reading about what someone else had for dinner, stay tuned. Might even be a recipe or two coming down the line.
Until next time, ¡Buen Provecho!
